Final meeting at the Central Point Grange

We had our final meeting as a congregation on July 11, 2009. It was a good time to fellowship with many who attended over the years. Arlene, Flo, and Buddy/Paula treated us with special music.

Discontinuation of services

After a great deal of prayer, we have decided that Messiah Assembly will discontinue meeting at the Grange in Central Point. However, we will have one final meeting, which will be a dinner to celebrate the years of service. This will take place on Shabbat, July 11, 2009 starting at 11:00 a.m. It will be our final chance to meet as a congregation. All who have benefited over the years from this ministry are welcome. Let's have a memorable final get together.

We will keep the framework for Messiah Assembly active, at least for a time. This includes the web-site and e-mail contact. It is a possible that a small group focused on prayer will form, so if you have prayer needs, let us know about them.

It has been a long four years since Rabbi Rich passed on. But all things have their season, and we are happy to have been able to serve the congregation.

Thank you all for your support and we wish you the very best, Dan and Neal

Long time member/deacon of Messiah Assembly passed

Terence G. Blake – May, 1937- February 2009

Heaven gained an ornery saint. Terence Gregory “Terry” Blake departed earth on February 10 at Rogue Valley Medical Center following complications of pneumonia.

Born in New York City to John R. Blake and Grace Clarry Blake, he graduated from Babylon High School, then ran away to join the Navy. He spent two decades in service attaining the rank of chief midway through his career.

Following discharge from the military, he worked twelve years as a supervisor at the Suffolk County, NY Department of Labor. There he met and married Florence Calderone in 1981. They moved to Beagle, Oregon in August of 1987.

Terry belonged to Messiah Assembly of Central Point, where he served as Deacon for ten years. Among his other memberships, the Vietnam veteran listed the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Non-commissioned Officers Association, and Southern Oregon Woodturners.

Survivors include wife Florence; son T. Gregory Blake, Madison, Wisconsin; daughter Christina Blake, L. I. New York; brothers William “Mike” Blake, Orlando, Florida; and Jack Blake, L. I., plus stepchildren Alfred Koehly, and Joleen Koehly, and three grandchildren.. Son Timothy Blake predeceased Terry in 1992.

Per Terry’s wishes, his cremains will be scattered in his Sams Valley garden.

Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives is in charge of arrangements.

Messiah Assembly Congregation Elder Dan Harvey will preside at the memorial on February 21, 10:30 a.m. in the Grange Hall at Fifth Street and East Pine, Central Point. A potluck lunch will follow.

Search for a Rabbi

Our congregation is actively looking for a rabbi who is qualified to lead a Messianic congregation that respects the Jewish roots of our faith and loves Yeshua as the Messiah

The memorial service for Rabbi Rich was held on December 17, 2005

The memorial service for Rabbi Rich was a very special event, led by the Ruach Ha Kodesh. The service was a team effort with many people participating. Readings from the traditional prayer book, special music of songs loved by Rich, eulogies and remembrances by many, the mini pesach (communion), and the gathering afterwards made this day very special.

One of the traditional readings that I would like to share follows:

As we comfort one another
So shall Y’shua comfort us.
What man may live and see not death
Or cause his soul to escape the grave?
We are resigned to the Lord,
We wait patiently for Him.
For the Lord sends death and life;
He brings us up from the grave to Heaven.
He heals the broken hearted
And binds up their wounds.
He will utterly destroy death forever,
And the Lord God will wipe away
The tear from every face.

Rich is in the arms of the Creator. Though we miss him, we can rejoice.
Rabbi Rich had a major heart trauma on August 16, 2005. After a hard four month battle with multiple strokes, respirator support, and paralysis, rabbi Rich passed away on December 4, at 1:04 pm.

Rich's memorial was held on Saturday December 17, 2005 so that congregation and friends could adequately honor his memory and have a sense of closure. The memorial was at the Grange building at 436 Pine St. in Central Point, Oregon.

Rich has touched many lives over the years, so this memorial was a public event, not just for our congregation.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. They were and are a souce of strength that helped carry his family and us all through this difficult time.
